Automotive trademarks are the property of the trademark holder, authorization may be needed for some uses. --- Info: YVB 162H (chassis no. 35500015A) is one of the 28 Range Rover pre-production prototypes bulit in 1970 prior to its launch in June 1970. Development of the Range Rovers started in November 1968. Most of the pre-production vehicles carried the name VELAR for running on the road in disguise, there were no Land / Range Rover badges. Very little changed from prototypes to production; smooth dash to grained, aluminium bonnet to steel, wheels went from cream to silver. Most of the prototypes carried a 'YVB' registration and had an H suffix. An additional batch of 20 press fleet vehicles was built carrying registration marks NXC 231H to NXC 250H. Around 38 of these pre-production vehicles still survive. This vehicle, YVB 162H was purchased by Dunsfold in the early 90s after suffering a bad engine fire, and was fully rebuilt keeping as many original parts as possible, but sadly the aluminium bonnet was beyond repair.
