Brazil, Bahia, Salvador: Old letter box in Pelourinho, the beautifully restored historic center of Salvador de Bahia. The district Pelourinho was built by the Portuguese in the 18th and 19th century as a residential and administrative center. Neglected for a greater part of the 20th century, Pelourinho received in 1985 the status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
