Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994, the sensational Halong Bay is spread across 1.500 sq km, with more than 2.000 pinnacle shaped limestone and dolomite outcrops scattered across it. The impression is a labyrinthine seascape of bizarrly shaped outcrops, isolated caves, and sandy coves.
