Asia, Vietnam, Hue. Pavillion at the royal tomb of Tu Duc. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993, Hue is honoured for its complex of historic monuments. Many of them are scattered across the scenic countryside to the south of Hue. Often considered to be the most elegant tomb in Vietnam, the mausoleum of Tu Duc (1848-1883) was designed by the king himself. Set on a pine-forested hill, it is flanked by lotus ponds and frangipani trees.
