Asia, Vietnam, Hoi An. Hoi An. From the Bach Dang river promenade overlooking the new promenade on the opposite An Hoi peninsular. The historic buildings, attractive tube houses, and decorated community halls have 1999 earned Hoi An's old quarter the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To protect the old quarter's character stringent conversation laws prohibit alterations to buildings, as well as the presence of cars on the roads.
