Brazil, Bahia, Salvador, Pelourinho: The plaza Largo do Pelourinho within Salvador de Bahia's beautifully restored historic center of Pelourinho. --- Info: The district Pelourinho was built by the Portuguese in the 18th and 19th century as a residential and administrative center. Neglected for a greater part of the 20th century, Pelourinho received in 1985 the status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Restored it is today the crown jewel of Salvador.
