Automotive trademarks are the property of the trademark holder, authorization may be needed for some uses. --- Vehicle Information: Belonging to the Dunsfold Collection: Chassis number 8884/2158, registration number BXC 975G, engine type 3.5 V8 petrol, gearbox type 4-speed manual. --- Vehicle History: This Series 2a Land Rover short wheel base Land Rover has a prototype V8 Buick engine fitted by Land Rover in 1967. It is the only one of three surviving test beds built for testing the V8 prior to fitting it into the Range Rover. It still retains the Series 2a non-synchromesh 4-speed manual gearbox and has large brakes all around. During testing many miles were covered at great speed. After it's trials days it went to the test track at Gaydon where it towed a surface friction trailer for many years.
