Land Rover 110in prototype gun tractor from around 1967, nicknamed "Big Lightweight". Automotive trademarks are the property of the trademark holder, authorization may be needed for some uses. --- Vehicle Information: Vehicle belongs to the Dunsfold Collection of Land Rovers: Registration No. VXC 100F, Chassis No. 110-1, 3.0 6-cylinder Petrol engine, 5-speed gearbox, 9.00 tyres. --- Vehicle history: This unusual prototype was one of three built a by Rover as an air portable gun tractor. It was also designed to tow a power driven trailer with the 105mm field gun behind that. It is called the Big Lightweight because of its oversized dimensions and the similarities to the normal Lightweight which was under development at the same time in the 1960's - as well as the 101 Forward Control .The 101 Forward Control won that contract, so this prototype never went into production. The gearbox is a Turner 5-speed and it has two transfer boxes to enable trailer drive in low box.
